Fitzroy Island is approximately 35km, or 45 minutes southeast of Cairns. It is a "Continental" or "High" island made out of granite, and is surrounded by a beautiful fringing reef full of colourful marine life.
Snorkelling off the island differs from the outer reefs & offers diversely different formations as well as marine life. It is a good option for those who do not fancy being aboard a vessel all day. There is also an option for a half day kayak adventure which will take you to little Fitzroy Island where there are a lot of colourful soft corals.
